Course Description
The AUA multiplatform journalism degree prepares students to produce news stories on every media “platform” – print, broadcast, radio, and the internet. This requires a basic knowledge of the digital tools used for production, beginning with the smart phone. This course will introduce students to “mobile journalism,” the use of mobile phones to capture professional-quality audio and video, basic audio and video editing software, and basic video cameras. This is a hands-on course, with students sent into the field to create audio and video segments.

More about this course
This course will show how to use mobile journalism tools for story coverage while also creating and launching the student news website and creating and adding photos and videos to create our own stock footage library that can be used for future stories. The news website is meant to be a site that future cohorts will contribute to, so we will be looking at the creation and development of the site from a strategic and long-term perspective, along with creating social media accounts, consistent branding, and editorial policies. We will continue to add to and enhance the site in subsequent semesters, as well as publishing stories on the site. We will also be using different types of mobile journalism tools, testing and reviewing them regarding usability, durability, and effectiveness.
